How did you use new media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?
During my project i tried to use as many different forms of technology whether it was new to me or not; this was for a number of reasons to find new ideas; develop them further make my blog more interesting to look at and new ways in which to record ideas.
RESEARCH:-
during my research stages the only forms of technology i really used was the Internet, websites such as Google where i searched in different genres to find out the criteria of them this led me to decide what type of genre i wanted to do; once i then found that out i used websites such as YouTube where i would search for trailers however YouTube was most useful to me when i didn't know what i was searching for; for example i typed in the word "obsession" and found a very useful perfume advert where the echoing effect of the voice overs inspired me to do voice overs in my trailer to make it more eerie. Google also helped me decide what form of target audiences i should be looking at; with facebook/my-space pages for films to see what sort of age group the followers were.
PLANNING:-
With my planning is where i became adventurous with different technologies to make my blog more interesting i used the in built webcam on my laptop to film me recording notes which i would then have to upload onto YouTube then copy the embedded code into my blogger. I also used Pod casts; these where harder for me to figure out how to get them onto blogger and i had to use you tube and wikihow.co.uk to figure out, i had to record my voice onto my phone then upload it to itunes change the format from MP4 to MP3 then upload to a website called podbean then straight from there i could upload to blogger. I made slide shows using several different websites such as flickr; photo bucket but the one i found in the end which was easiest to use and upload to my blog was Slide share.
Construction:-
This is where i was partly able to adapt and grow my skills from last years AS media using Photoshop to make my magazine front covers and my poster; this meant that i picked Photoshop up again quite quickly so it wasn't difficult for me to use, i even learnt to do some new effects such as animating my picture to make it look as if it was drawn. However using Imovie for mac computers took some getting used to as it was a completely new programme to me however i used the Apple help website and soon learnt how to use it with ease being able to cut, add effects and transitions to scenes. The programme came with sound effects which meant adding the effects like the heartbeat was a lot easier than i thought and with out the programme i wouldn't of thought about them so it also helped me develop my ideas.
This is the programme i used to make my Music; i added a video because it is hard to explain how i used it. Its called Garage Band and it is for mac computers; it made my search for someone to make my music for me a lot easier as it made it possible for me to make it with a whole library of sounds and beats which are then easily put together by me to make a backing track however it does take some getting used to and took several attempts to get it right. I mainly stuck to Pianos but also added in a few violin beats and drum drones to add to the eeriness.
EVALUATION:-
the technologies i used in my Evaluation are similar to the ones i used in my Planning mostly i used Podbean to make a podcast ; i scanned in photos of my questionnaires; I used YouTube to upload videos for my evaluation which with some of them i edited together on Imovie. I made a presentation using Microsoft PowerPoint which i then saved as a mov. format so i could add it to YouTube then blogger.
without the different technologies my coursework would of been a lot harder as i needed them to help me gather together research with ease; i did come across a few problems but all in all it did make it easier for me, and more entertaining.
If i had more time i would of made a Facebook page as i wanted to; to get some quick audience feedback however in the end i decided against it because it would actually take a lot of time to handle with making sure no one posts anything not worth while etc.
Part of what i found out was that even without expensive high quality equipment to edit and to make my trailer and other medias i still managed to produce a good convincing product, this shows that it is possible to make Horror movies on a very small budget and without amazing technology to develop it.

Evaluation 3
For my audience feedback i split my product up into questionnaire interview where they had seen all the products then an interview where they had only seen the poster. For my questionnaire i asked 8 people from my target audience. Ages between 16-22.

The Questions:- 1. Summarise what you think my idea is? 2. What where you favourite scenes from the trailer? 3. How did the three texts make you feel? 4. What do you think i could improve on? 5. Does it follow the conventions of a Horror? 6. Can you relate to it in anyway? 7. Would you go and see it? 8. Do you think it is an Art house cinema movie or a Multiplex? 9. Do the pictures on the Magazine make you want to read the magazine? 10.Rating out of 5 for the whole product? This is a montage of the interviews i had with several people all again from my target audience ranging between 16-17
What i have learnt from my audience feedback?
A summary is that i learnt that my trailer does stick to the conventions of a horror movie in many ways. Also that my target audience was correct with elder teens to young adults.

The podcast was an interview with my target audience i wanted to try something different here so i started off by just showing them the poster; this forced them to build on their answers given me more depth, this way of interviewing really helped me with my audience feedback.

Evaluations Part 1
To summarise my intention from the beginning was to challenge the typical conventions of the Horror genre i didn't completely fail at this in someways my final products did challenge and in some ways develop the Horror genre however it was difficult to step away from the traditional concepts of the Horror genre as i am so used to them from watching Horror movies, so the majority of my final products do stick to the typical Horror conventions.
Final Trailer
Over all i am happy with how my trailer has turned out. Even though one of my main concerns is that it seems too slow paced to be a horror trailer, but i will see if this concern is an actual problem when i get back my final audience feedback on the completed product.
The filming went well but once editing i realised it would of been helpful to have some more footage as this stopped me from being able to edit my trailer in the way i first wanted.
The music came out as i wanted with it being made on Garage band for Mac computers.
The whole trailer was made on Imovie also for macs, this is where the sound effects are also from. The only problem i came across was with the volume of the voice overs, i couldnt get them loud enough to be heard over the back ground music that is why it is so quiet.
To explain why i choose to do the shaking shot towards then end, my first idea for that shot was to have a sound effect over of like a stressed scream; however i ran out of time to get this so i had to use the scene without the sound effect; it is supposed to show ben getting destressed from millie haunting him; its getting to him and he is getting scared/angry.

Changes With My Actors
When i started to film my trailer Jack wasnt able to be my actor as he has previous engagments so due to time i had to recast someone else as my main male lead luckily i found Ben Dehavilland who is free and willing to play my male character for me.
