The Last Exorcism

Director: Daniel Stamm
Genre: Horror
Producer: Eric Newman
Plot: Cotton Marcus a Preacher is doing his last exorcism; he has invited the camera crew to follow him on this last exorcism he interviews the family members and films the house. The owner of the remote farm believes that his daughter Nell has been possessed, he preforms and exorcism on Nell, as the plot thickens the viewers are left uncertain if they are watching a story of child abuse or other worldly evil.

Sight and Sound said "follows in the tradition of horror films such as the Blair witch project (1999) and Cloverfield (2008), where tension is built up by the use of 'found' footage, and the camera becomes a participant in the action as well as its witness'."

IDEAS / CONVENTIONS CAN USE FROM THIS TRAILER:
  • I like the idea of how the audience is left in suspense. I want to use this idea of suspense for my movie where the audience wont know what happened to my main character until the end. i will portray this idea of suspense in my film by not showing how she dies just showing her dead, and scenes which give off the idea that he is guilty, " has blood on his hands".
  • I want to my main character played by Millie to move the way the girl in the Last Exorcism does. So i will work with Millie to help her to get this correct so we can use her type of jerky sudden movements in my trailer.
  • I also want to portray how innocent the girl was in the beginning before she became possessed in my main character.
  • For ideas of how to make my trailer this has given me a lot to think about because i like the way that it flashes images up and as it gets scarier the images flash up faster and faster.
  • When it changes images it flashes to a black screen.
  • I also like the way that their are some filters over the camera which add to the scariness of it like the flashing red filter. I will practise with filters perhaps with a red one over the scene where she is dead in his arms to see how it looks.
  • This follows the traditional horror conventions. which i will need to use in my trailer to attract the same audience.
