Magazine Front Cover and Poster Research.

Little white lies is an independent film magazine that focuses on films that bring something different into the film industry.

"Because movies don’t exist in a vacuum, we venture beyond the boundaries of the big screen, exploring the worlds of music, art, politics and pop culture to inform and illuminate the medium we love. Bold, beautiful and unique, LWLies is a magazine on a mission – to reshape the debate across the movie landscape." quote from one of the creators.

Why can i use this magazine to promote my magazine:- My film would be on the front cover of this magazine as it does bring something slightly unusual and different to the typical horror convention for a movie and this is because it is a mix of a love story and a horror. They would of picked up the movie for their front cover from a small film festivals. They would also be interested in it as it is directed and written by a female which for horror movies is unusual. To make my magazine cover for my movie like these i am going to have to edit my picture to look either cartoon or as if it was drawn. i will do this using photo shop. i will also have to cut out their logo and put this one mine. There front covers are very minimalistic usually with a picture that stand out the name of the issue and the logo; i will have to make sure i stick to these conventions with mine.

Sight and sound is possibly another magazine i could use which would advertise my movie on the front cover because it tends to show independent films which where found from festivals (i am saying that my film has won at the Edinburgh film festival)on their front cover; however they don't tend to show horror films but i can get around this by my film dipping into both horror and romance this is also different which is another reason why they would show it on their magazine.

With sight and sound the conventions i will have to stick to are the "sight and sound logo" to the left near the top and the "issue date etc." opposite on the right" they have quite dramatic pictures but with minimalistic backgrounds, also they have a other articles included on the front cover.

My inital poster research was into horror posters but i then realised there are several types of posters; Pre-trailer posters; Pre-movie posters; Post-movie posters.

The distributors logo is usually shown very small in the credit on the poster; i have looked into what films will distribute my movie; i am saying that a small firm like Vertigo films will distribute my movie because they have distributed small budget independent films recently such as Monsters 2010 and Wakewood 2011.

As my poster will be coming out with the trailer to promote the movie which will be coming out after, i am going to do a Pre-movie poster.

These generally look like this.:-

All these examples the titles of the posters are central with awards won to the side etc.

so to stick to conventions of a movie poster i will have to stick to these conventions.
