Paranormal Activity is a film that has helped me to develop my trailer idea further, it has allowed me to have an idea of where a low budget Horror film is likely to be shown, in a small independent cinema such as the "Electric Palace" in Hastings.
Paranormal Activity was a budget horror film filmed in one location ( like i am thinking mine will be) and also shot just on a hand held camera which is also how my film has to be filmed. It started out being shown in 160 screens over the whole of the US and most of these where independents. It had a low budget of $15,000 (which is obviously still a lot more than i will have) but it gives me an idea of filming on a budget. Paranormal activity was filmed with an unknown cast, same as mine as all my actors are unknown also, but still they managed to gain $7 million in the first weekend it was open. They managed this through a viral marketing campaign that spread across the Internet like wildfire, persuading thousands to pack out cinemas and also led to it being bought up and shown on big screens and across the country, it was then released in the UK in November 2009, they have now released a sequel to the movie.I am not aiming to make my movie to the standards of paranormal activity as i don't have that large a budget, but i will have a low budget like they did and my movie would of been shown on independent cinema screens, with unknown actors. But unlike paranormal activity i will be expecting my movie to stay in independent cinema screens and in the UK.
